“Gel Electrophoresis also known as DNA Fingerprinting”
Standard 3.3.1 interpret how Dna is used for comparison and identification of organism.
SUMMARY
In standard 3.3.1 i learned that gel electrophoresis is used to separate and analyze Dna fragments by placing a mixture. I learned that in order to do gel electrophoresis after i cut the dna using Restriction enzymes the first step is to place it inside wells of gel. The second step is when you turn on the gel , an electric current. The Dna to separate the smaller pieces closer to the bottom t side the larger pieces go closer to a scientist can use gel electrophoresis to find criminals and determine biological parents (maternity) (paternity)

Restriction Enzymes - Enzymes that cuts Dna at a specific sequence of nucleotides
Gel electrophoresis - is a technique used to separate mixtures like Dna and proteins.

PRACTICE QUESTIONS?
Which specific characteristic allows geneticists to identify people? The nucleotides sequence is unique to every person
Which of these procedures involvesusing Dna fingerprinting as common practice to identify and individual? The parents of a baby that may have been switched at birth.
Which would include the use of dna to determine paternity? Dna fingerprinting.
